HC Speaking Series: Kris Barone

The Historical Commission presents "The Creswell Family Journey" with Kris Barone. Learn about genealogy research!

If you are a family historian, have ancestors from England or Ireland (as many in East Brandywine), or want to learn how to discover your family history you’ll want to hear Kris Barone’s talk on her journey discovering the Cresswells.

About ten years ago Kris began to study her grandmother’s ancestry and quickly became fascinated by the Creswells. Kris is a descendent of a large Creswell family that settled in lower Chester County, PA in the early 1700s. The Creswells went on to settle many other counties across Pennsylvania and beyond.

But before they arrived in America the Creswells were a family of distinction in England. Drawing from both primary and historical sources Kris provides a view into the Creswell family from ~1200 to today.

She shares how her understanding of the family changed after she received the results of her ancestry DNA. Kris studies English history and draws from her experience with her maternal grandmother whose great grandmother was Martha Creswell, daughter of Mathew Creswell of Huntington, PA.
