HC Speaking Series: Catherine Quillman

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

In May the Historical Commission hosted historian Catherine Quillman for a presentation on the lost village named Milford Mills, now under the lake at Marsh Creek State Park. There were so many questions and personal stories from the audience, the Commission is hosting a second session on the same topic!

Due to popular demand, author and historian Catherine Quillman has been invited by East Brandywine Township to give a second presentation on "Milford Mills: the Lost Village.” Her previous lecture was held at the Marsh Creek State Park – formerly the location of the village of Milford Mills. The story of the village was attended by many who lived there or remembered it and this is an opportunity to share those stories.

The evening will include a “talk back”, as well as a Powerpoint presentation of early photos taken from her expanded book,The Story of Milford Mills and The Marsh Creek Valley. Please send any pictures, stories to Catherine Quillman at Brandywineartists@me.com. You are also welcome to bring photo albums, memorabilia, flash drives, etc. The author welcomes any photos that you might want to share such as those of other ”lost” communities including the former village of Eagle, Byers, Dorlan’s Mills and Bondsville.

Come out and enjoy an evening of stories and discussion. Refreshments will be served.
