The Chester County Solid Waste Authority and the Municipalities of Chester County will be hosting six Hazardous Household Waste Drop-Off Events in 2017:

What is Household Hazardous Waste?
These words on the label identify household hazardous waste (HHW):
  • Caution
  • Combustible
  • Corrosive
  • Danger
  • Explosive
  • Flammable
  • Hazardous
  • Poisonous
  • Reactive
  • Toxic
  • Warning

Important Information
  • No e-waste will be collected at the 2017 events.  What is e-waste? Desktop/laptop computers, monitors, printers, copiers, televisions (both with cathode ray tube and non-CRT), answering machines, camcorders, cell phones, laptop docking stations, electric typewriters, fax/copy machines, microwaves, radios, pagers, remote controls, gaming consoles, stereo/tape/CD players, telephones & equipment, toner/ink cartridges, and VCR/DVD players.
  • The following items will not collected: latex paint (not a hazardous waste—when dry it may be placed in your curbside trash), any appliances containing freon, large appliances, propane, helium tanks, asbestos, infectious or medical waste, radioactive waste, pressurized CFCs & HCFCs, gas cylinders, alkaline batteries, 50 gallon drums, tires, fire extinguishers, explosives, and ammunition.
  • The collection is for household hazardous waste only, businesses and contractors will be turned away.
  • Proof of residency may be required.
  • The maximum amount accepted is 25 gallons or 220 lbs.
  • All items must be identifiable.
  • Do not mix materials.
  • If you use cardboard boxes to transport materials to the collection sites, you should be prepared to bring the boxes back to your residence for curbside collection (or use the Township drop-off recycle location at 1214 Horseshoe Pike).
