Communities like East Brandywine Township that have NPDES Municipal Storm Sewer System (MS4) permits must address new requirements for the 2018 permit, which are due to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on September 16, 2017 with the next MS4 permit application/Notice of Intent (NOI). These new requirements involve developing plans to design and construct stormwater projects or Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce pollutants from municipal storm sewer systems to impaired streams over the five (5) year permit term (March 16, 2018 – March 15, 2023).
East Brandywine is required to reduce sediment pollution to Culbertson Run and unnamed tributaries to Beaver Creek by ten (10) percent by implementing BMPs. Our consultant, CEDARVILLE, has been working on a Pollutant Reduction Plan (PRP) to meet these requirements as authorized by the proposal dated September 14, 2016. The East Brandywine Township Pollutant Reduction Plan for Culbertson Run and unnamed tributaries to Beaver Creek is now available for public review and comment--see the links below. The Pollutant Reduction Plan describes proposed measures to be taken to reduce sediment pollution to Culbertson Run and unnamed tributaries to Beaver Creek within East Brandywine Township and is a requirement of the Township’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit.
