East Brandywine Township is collaborating with the Brandywine Conservancy to study the feasibility of building an East-West trail from the Struble Trail to the Community Park as shown on the township's Official Map with an extension to the western boundary of the Township. This project is an important part of the Brandywine Creek Greenway and the proposed trail will provide residents with a safe place to walk or bicycle from Marsh Creek State Park in the east to Hibernia County Park in the west.
The Conservancy is in the process of preparing maps that illustrate locations of existing trails and trail easements, potential trail locations, and potential neighborhood connections. The maps will be on display at a public presentation that is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10th at 7 p.m. in the municipal building. All are welcome and encouraged to attend and provide comments. For more information contact Luke Reven at (610) 269-8230 or e-mail lukereven@ebrandywine.org.
The next phase of the project will include facilitating community workshops to focus on the vision for the Dowlin Forge Road Trail. The workshops will educate residents about the Brandywine Creek Greenway, trails and trail planning, build community support for trails, solicit ideas for branding the trail, explore alternative trail routes, and recruit volunteers for the ongoing project. Currently, this follow-on phase has not received funding.
